(Management) - Learning Network

As teachers, it is important to get to know and explore between all the different resources available on the Internet nowadays. The amount of tools that are available allow us to access to lots of different possibilities in order to deliver to our students the best education process possible.

On this entry, I will provide 3 different resources that I have already work with for Second Language Teaching. In case you want to check them you can click on the titles of each resource, and it will deliver you to its official page.

1. TRAVELLERS

The Milton Education publishing house offers teachers of English as a second language, the subscription to this platform, whose main objective is to follow and evaluate the educational process of individual students in the same way that it keeps track of both individual tasks and those performed in the classroom.

The main axis of the platform is summarized in the collection of points through participation in different activities, points that students can later exchange for avatars and other rewards that they personalize in their profile. The application has a multitude of resources, such as games or competitions at classroom level, which follow the structure of the Kahoot! platform, or readings that the teacher can assign as homework and, after completing it and depending on the number of errors, offers one reward or another.

I believe that this type of resources collaborate faithfully with the development of the aforementioned gamification process of classroom activities, thus saving time invested in the preparation of the resources.

2. WORD-REFERENCE

One of the activities that have been carried out for many years in Primary Education classrooms is the familiarization with the dictionary resource as an auxiliary tool to consult doubts.

Following the dictionary model, and taking into account the technological progress that is taking place in today's society, I consider it interesting to familiarize students with the many dictionaries available on the web. I have selected the WordReference page or application in particular, on the one hand because of the multitude of languages listed on this web, but also because of the multitude of tools available for English (search for definitions, synonyms...).

3. WORDLE

One of the online resources that has become especially popular in the last year is the online game called "Wordle", in which, through a maximum number of attempts, the player must try to guess the hidden word,

For this, at each attempt, the letters will take on a color depending on whether they are in the hidden word or not:

--> Gray letter: The letter is not in the word.

--> Yellow letter: The letter is in the word but in another position.

--> Green letter: The letter is in the correct position in the word.

I believe that this type of games collaborate again with the objective of gamifying classroom activities, being in this case, the acquisition of new vocabulary.
